You do not need to seek freedom in a different land, for it exists with your own body, heart, mind, and soul.

A Pragmatic Approach to the Art of Living.

Maya Baranowska, founder of Wellbeing Assistance
My path to this work wasn’t a straight line; it was a search for understanding. I was born in Poland just before the collapse of communism, raised by a single mother navigating her own battle with depression. Growing up in a landscape of poverty and disadvantage taught me early on that the world isn’t always supportive. But it also taught me that resilience is a practice—something you build, piece by piece, when things are difficult.
Despite those challenges, my home valued education and culture as vital. This contradiction—living through scarcity while being encouraged to seek growth—is the foundation of my work today.
I didn’t want to just help people; I wanted to understand the mechanics of how we change. My search for answers led me through degrees in Art Therapy, Philosophy, and Sociology. I wanted to understand the deep connections between our minds, our bodies, and the environments we live in.
When I moved to Australia, my work in disability support and yoga merged organically. My clients realised I had a unique way of combining physical movement with a philosophical understanding of their lived experiences. To bridge my background with the Australian professional landscape, I have continued to ground my work in formal study, completing a Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and currently pursuing Counselling.
My formal qualifications include:
- Graduate Diploma in Counselling – currently studying
- Graduate Certificate in Mental Health
- BA & MA in Philosophy and Education
- MA in Sociology
- Diploma in Art-therapy
- Positive Psychology Certification
- 500 RYT Yoga Teacher
